Cockenzie Power Station in East Lothian has shut down for the last time...As the station manager Bill Kelly turned off the generator Scottish Power described it as the "end of an era", as the coal-fired facility ceased generating energy at 8.30am on Friday 15th March 2013..It completed its 20,000 operating hours when it opted out of the EU's Large Combustion Plant Directive in 2008...picture by Alex Hewitt.alex.hewitt@gmail.com.07789 871 540
